Amphire Awarded British Computer Society's IT Industry Award

In Partnership with Thistle Hotels, Amphire UK Recognized for Excellence in Consumer Goods and Services Category

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Amphire(R) Solutions, the leading Software as a Service (SaaS) provider of technology solutions for the foodservice industry and institutional supply chains, today announces that its UK business, Makella, acquired in August of this year, has been honored by the British Computer Society with an IT Industry Award. Acknowledged for its organizational excellence within the consumer goods and services industry, Makella receives the award in partnership with customer Thistle Hotels. The company's SaaS solutions enable and oversee Thistle Hotels' e-purchasing requirements.

"Technology has enabled unparalleled improvements in productivity and business efficiency over the last 50 years and today IT drives business," said David Clarke, chief executive of British Computer Society. "These winners have embraced this concept and proven their excellence in innovation and professionalism; they exemplify the importance and value that technology brings to business, society and the economy."

Amphire delivers an end to end, purchase to pay process fully integrated into Thistle Hotel's SAP ERP system. The integrated solution gives Thistle control over contracts and pricing changes with their suppliers and the ability to match invoices to order quantities and costs.

Amphire's UK operation currently processes over $2.0 billion worth of electronic transactions and manages over a billion in outsourced purchasing every year for many well known hospitality industry names including Thistle Hotels.

"To be recognized by the British Computer Society for our work and achievements with Thistle Hotels is a great honor," said Liam Taylor, chief operating officer of Amphire. "This award is a clear testament to our successful business relationship, which has not only improved pricing across Thistle's purchasing, but has also resulted in significant savings every month."

"We are thrilled to have received this award from the British Computer Society and look forward to building upon this success," added Mark Barnekow, president and chief executive officer of Amphire. "Our experiences in Europe and North America provide valuable insights into creating a broader portfolio of global solutions which add value to all constituents in the food supply chain."

Google, Whitbread, Microsoft and BT were among the winners at the BCS IT Industry Awards announced on December 6th at a gala dinner for fourteen hundred guests. The awards, which took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, were presented by BBC news broadcaster Kate Silverton in recognition of excellence, professionalism and innovation in IT.
